March 8, 2006

Hello. I really have nothing important or exciting to say, but I just thought I'd add this entry in for the sake of updating this sad website, and so that the "Last updated" date at the bottom will at least take us into the new year. I think it's about time that I updated my pictures section, and I have been thinking of adding a "psyduck's travels" section with the pictures larry took for me of psyduck on the east coast. When I'll get around to doing those things, who knows, but isn't just the mere intent to get something done worth anything?

So now I'm sitting here thinking of what I could possibly put in here to take space. I think I'll put up my TV schedule of must-see shows for the week, so that besides knowing about psyduck and tapioca, you all can get a glimpse into just how many crazy obsessions I have (and how little studying I get done).

SUNDAY: Charmed, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy
TUESDAY: American Idol, Amazing Race
WEDNESDAY: American Idol, LOST
THURSDAY: Survivor, Smallville, American Idol, Beauty and the Geek, formerly Dancing with the Stars
FRIDAY: formerly Dancing with the Stars, occasionally What I Like About You
OTHER: Alias, Deal or No Deal

Other random things:

Pikachu Hors d'oeuvres
Apparently there is someone out there who has more time to spend on pokemon than I do.

Some of my favorite demotivators from despair.com:

Ok, that's all! :)

CHIPPY
11/26/03 - 7/15/05

Launch in external player

I first met Chippy on my 22nd birthday, when Larry brought her over in a cute little cage for my present. I had already decided before he brought her to me that I wanted to name my hamster either Mr. Bojangles or Chippy, but since Mr. Bojangles is obviously a silly name for a girl, I decided on Chippy. He said that he bought me a hamster so that I could have something to keep me company even though we were starting the long-distance part of our relationship. And he was right... when I'd be stressed out studying, I'd take a break to say hello to Chippy or to feed her those treats she loved so much. As soon as I came home, she'd run out of her little house to bite on the bars and say hello or she'd look around to find me. And even though she made a lot of noise on her wheel every night when I slept, I still didn't mind it at all.

chippy A hamster's life span is about two years, which is way too short. I came home on Wednesday to find Chippy really weak and bleeding, not opening her eyes at all. It was horrible to see her in so much pain. The veterinarian said that her bladder was really big and that being the age that she was, there was pretty much nothing else they could do. So Larry and I had her put to sleep to prevent her from feeling uncomfortable through that, and the heart complications to follow. So sad. I wasn't able to go home, but Larry and my dad buried her in my backyard beside the pond and flowers in a nice little spot my dad picked out. I also had Larry bury a box of her favorite treats with her, and put a marker with "chippy" on it. Those of you who know me well enough know that I am an extremely sentimental person. I had Boyz II Men's "It's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" at my last hamster's funeral when I was a kid.

Anyway, you were an amazing hamster and a great friend. You'll be missed, Chippy!

I am a very picky eater. Those who know me well enough will have already figured that out. I don't particularly like watermelon, raw onions and tomatoes on burgers, and especially CILANTRO. yech. That being said, I was on a site earlier today which made me think about the questionable things I DO already eat. Every now and then, I'll open up a can of corned beef or one of those small cans of vienna sausage. I have never stopped to look at the content information on those little containers, but now I'm thinking that I don't want to. I'm sure they're just a potpourri of random cow parts.

Here are some other interesting foods you may want to try for dinner tonight:

On a side note, check out this amazing sidewalk chalk guy.

If my optometry school finals and practicals could take the form of a single, real creature, it would look a lot like this--only more slimy and with a lot more conjunctival redness:

The sad part is that I will have had a final, final practical or clinic proficiency for every one of its tentacles by the end of this week. The big eye right smack in the middle? National boards. :(

save me!

This past week: an optics midterm, 1st years vs. 2nd years vs. 3rd years in broomball, and CPR training. Next week: Larry's coming to visit!!! :)

Minhtam shows how not to burp your infant.

Who's hungry?!?

Yau-Ru and Marisa prepared their manikin
for what would surely be
the biggest shock of his life.

How could you not get excited playing broomball when you've got great cheerleaders like these?

Ah, look at how happy the second years were before their bruises showed up the next day.

Tonight I went to our school's Quiz Bowl. It was very exciting... like watching one of my reality game shows, only this time I knew the people who were in it. :) Good job to Marisa, Kevin, John, Tim and Jeff for representing our class, and to Andrew who won. Rather than talk about all of the little details, here are some pics from tonight:
